AutoAlign by orbitaar · Last updated September 2026

At orbitaar, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how AutoAlign handles your information.

The Short Version

AutoAlign does not collect your data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your photos, scanned documents, their text and your questions about them are processed and stored on your device. Nothing is sent to orbitaar, and orbitaar runs no server that could receive it.

Photos

You choose photos with Apple's system photo picker, which does not give AutoAlign access to the rest of your library. The app asks for Photos access only when you save an edited photo, so it can save it or replace the original. When you edit inside the Photos app, the AutoAlign extension works on the photo Photos hands to it. Edits keep the photo's original details, such as the date, camera information and location.

Camera and Scanned Documents

The camera is used only when you open it to scan pages or photograph a building. Scanned documents are kept in AutoAlign's storage on your device and are not synced to any cloud service by the app. To file and find them, AutoAlign reads the text on each page on your device with Apple's Vision framework. Each document is also added to your device's Spotlight search, with its title, notes, the text on its pages and a small thumbnail, so you can find it from the Home Screen. That entry stays on your device and is removed when you delete the document. Like other app data, your documents are included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer) if you have backups turned on, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy.

Location

If you allow it, AutoAlign notes where a scan was taken, so you can find the document by place later. To show a place name instead of coordinates, the coordinates are sent to Apple's map service (MapKit). They are not sent to orbitaar. Location access is optional and can be changed at any time in Settings. The location is kept in the scan's metadata, so it travels with a page or PDF you share.

Ask Documents (Apple Intelligence)

Ask Documents answers questions about your documents using Apple's on-device language model. Your questions, answers and document text stay on your device and are not sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute or to orbitaar. The feature is only offered on devices that support Apple Intelligence with Apple Intelligence turned on. Answers are generated automatically and can be wrong, so check anything important against the document itself.

Purchases and Reviews

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple through your Apple Account. orbitaar receives no payment details. The app may show Apple's standard prompt to rate it, which Apple handles.

Sharing

When you share a photo, page or PDF, it goes only where you choose to send it, through Apple's share sheet.

Deleting Your Data

Documents can be deleted in the app. Deleting AutoAlign removes everything it stored on the device. Photos you saved to your library stay there until you delete them in Photos.

Children's Privacy

AutoAlign is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any information from children, or from anyone else.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. Your continued use of AutoAlign after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
