Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how SyncAlbum handles your information.
The Short Version
orbitaar does not run servers for SyncAlbum and does not collect your data. There is no SyncAlbum account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your albums are stored in your own iCloud and shared through Apple's iCloud. orbitaar never receives your photos, comments or any other content.
Where Your Albums Live
Albums, photos, videos, captions, comments, reactions, favourites and journal entries are stored with Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) under your Apple Account. When you share an album, the people you approve can see and add to it through iCloud sharing. Their contributions to your album are stored in your iCloud, and the albums you join are stored in their owner's iCloud. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Sharing and Joining
An album is shared only when you share its link or QR code. Anyone with the link can ask to join; nobody gets in until the owner approves. When you ask to join, your display name and the album's name are stored as a join request in SyncAlbum's iCloud database so the owner can see it. Your display name and the photos, comments and reactions you add are visible to everyone in that album. The owner can remove people at any time.
People in an album may save copies of photos, for example to their own library or as a screenshot, while they have access. Copies they saved stay with them after access is removed, and orbitaar cannot control them.
Private and Hidden Albums
Albums marked Only on this iPhone are stored on your device only and never sync. Hidden albums can be locked with Face ID or Touch ID; the check is done by iOS and SyncAlbum never sees your biometric data.
Permissions
- Photos: to import the photos and videos you choose, and to save exported stories and photos.
- Camera: for the built-in camera, only while you use it.
- Location: if you allow it, to tag photos you take in the app. To show place names, coordinates are sent to Apple's map service.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition: to record video sound and journal voice notes. Voice notes are transcribed on your device.
- Face ID: to unlock hidden albums.
- Notifications: to tell you about new photos, comments, reactions and join requests. Notifications are delivered by Apple.
You can change any permission in the iPhone's Settings. SyncAlbum works without the ones you don't grant.
Stories and Journal
Video stories, face-aware framing, the journal's days, places and chapters, and voice-note transcripts are all made on your device. Nothing is sent to orbitaar.
Purchases
Unlimited Albums and any earlier purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple Account. orbitaar receives no payment details. The app may show Apple's standard prompt to rate it, which Apple handles.
Diagnostics
SyncAlbum keeps a diagnostic log on your device to help fix problems. It never leaves the device unless you choose to share it with us yourself.
Deleting Your Data
Delete photos or albums in the app, or leave albums you joined. Deleting an album you own removes it for everyone in it. You can also manage SyncAlbum's iCloud data in the iPhone's Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud. Deleting the app removes what it stored on the device, including private albums.
Children's Privacy
SyncAlbum is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any information from children, or from anyone else.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
